Chelsea have won the Barclays Premier Reserve League Southern Group.
The Blues will now host a play-off to decide the national title against either Manchester United or Blackburn Rovers who meet at Old Trafford in the northern section play-off on Wednesday. The decider will take place at Stamford Bridge on Monday 16th May, kick-off 7.00pm.
It is the first time Chelsea have won a reserve title since 1994 when they were Football Combination champions and they now hope to top that with victory in the national play-off.
title safe
The Blues dominated Monday's match fired by a fourth-minute goal from George Saville who tapped home from close range.Adam Phillip added a second on 24 minutes with a 20-yard shot which squirted through the keeper's legs and crossed the line before he could retrieve it.
Gokhan Tore made the points and title safe with the third goal two minutes after the break, running onto a through-ball from Phillip who had also set up the opener.
Reserve team manager Steve Holland told the official club website: "We talked about one or two things after losing to Man City last week such as pressurising which we normally do well and the tempo of our play and we did those things very well right from the start.
"We got on top early and never let our foot off the gas apart from late on. It's a credit to the players and we could have more goals, but three will do. Another game at the Bridge will be good experience for the players."[BPL]
